scotty mccreery - carolina eyes
We were young, it was summer
Just a little town on the edge of the water
I've never been down there before
I met ya, pickin' up shells on that seashore
Your smile was pulling me under
Then ya said your name, and it was game over
[Chorus]
Yeah girl, I fell so far in love with you
'Cause I told my heart I had nothing to lose
When time ain't on your side
You're wonderin' which kiss is gonna mean goodbye
And I opened up and threw all my love your way
Said words to you I'd never heard me say
I just sat there that night
And let your Carolina eyes pull me in
'Cause I never thought I'd see you again
If I'd only known a feeling like that
Would hit me once and it'd never come back
I'd of gone ahead and made you mine
Instead of trying to move on and wasting my time
Looking for what I already found
A few years back in that little beach town
Is it luck running into you so unexpectedly
Or is it fate that put you here in front of me
Did you know I fell so far in love with you?
Yeah, I told my heart that I had nothing to lose
'Cause time wasn't on our side
We were wonderin' which kiss was gonna mean goodbye
And I opened up and threw all my love your way
Said words to you I'd never heard me say
Gonna sit here tonight
And let those Carolina eyes pull me in
'Cause I never thought I'd see you
But it's so good to see you again
scotty mccreery - this is that night
You can feel it coming like a wild horse running
You can hear it calling in the wind
It's a good kinda crazy that you get when the full moon's shining down on your skin
And you can't help but wanna live a little
Find a good time, dive in the middle of it
[Chorus]
This is that night, this is that song
This is the one, me and you've been waiting on
This is that moment you gonna remember for the rest of your life
So, count it on down, 4, 3, 2, 1
We're coming alive, we're coming undone
Once in a blue moon, all the stars line up in the sky
This is that night
Get your camera, take a picture
You know you don't wanna miss a minute of what's going on
We got everything and everybody
This ain't just another party rocking 'til the break of dawn
So, put your hands up high as you can get 'em
All your worries you can just forget 'em
Yeah, this is that night
Count it on down, 4, 3, 2, 1
We're coming alive, we're coming undone
Once in a blue moon, all the stars line up in the sky
Yeah, this is that night
This is that night
scotty mccreery - back on the ground
I dropped by to check on mama, for a minute,
I could hear her humming a tune through the screen door in the kitchen
She was puttin' the final touches on a homemade pecan pie
And just like always I was, right on time
A little game of guess-who and I got a hug and "how's my baby"
I said, "You know me mama I've been hittin' it hard, runnin' like crazy
But I don't wanna bore you with that same old nothing's-new,
I'd rather just pull up this chair and get caught up on you"
Ain't it funny how it all comes back around,
I remember when I couldn't wait to get out of her hair and ditch this town.
I was restless a time to move on,
Now it's any reason to go back home,
That's what's it all about,
Yeah, I'm just slowin' down,
To get my feet back on the ground.
That minute turned into an hour before I knew it
And I got my fill on pie and how's everybody doing
I used to look through every reason in the world to hit that door
And she said, "You want another cup of coffee?"
I said, "Yeah, I'll take one more"
Ain't it funny how it all comes back around,
I remember when I couldn't wait to get out of her hair and ditch this town.
I was restless and time to move on,
Now it's any reason to go back home,
That's what's it all about,
Yeah, I'm just slowin' down,
To get my feet back on the ground.
And now, I can't go too many days without
Checkin' in, just touchin' base, and just slowin' down
Back on the ground.
I dropped by to check on mama, for a minute...
scotty mccreery - better than that
First crush, first kiss, first time I saw the ocean
And dug my toes in the sand
(Your love is better than that)
Baseball and summer nights, casting out when the fish spurs by,
First time I got a Chevy in my hands
(Your love is better than that)
I thought nothing can touch that by a mile
I thought nothing can make that moment seem so worthwhile
Your love is better, better, better than that
Nothing is sweeter than you,
Making my heart beat so fast
Everything I could have been
That was at the end of all those other passed
Your love is better,
Your love is better than that
Six string, first song, the way it felt to sing along
To some words that were scribbled on my soul
(Your love is better than that)
I thought nothing can touch that by a mile
I thought nothing can make that moment seem so worthwhile
Your love is better, better, better than that
Nothing is sweeter than you,
Making my heart beat so fast,
Everything I could have been
That was at the end of all those other passed
Your love is better,
Your love is better than that
One day, years from now,
When I'm old and gray, I'm gonna smile about
How life has been so good...
But your love is better, better, better than that
Nothing is sweeter than you,
Making my heart beat so fast,
Everything I could have been
That was at the end of all those other passed
Yeah, yeah, your love is better,
Better than that
(Your love is better than that)
scotty mccreery - clear as day
You were sitting on that silverado bumper
Outside our locker room after the game
Glowing in the tan you got that summer
And I walked by and you said 'hey'
And that night's still Clear As Day
First time we ever be beat East Lincoln county
Big party down at Ricky Bowman's place
You walked up and threw your arms around me
You whispered you loved to watch me play
Yeah that night's still Clear As Day
There ain't one second times erased
Every detail is still in place
You hold on to what you love
Some things never fade
And that night's still Clear As Day
We went to catch some fresh air on the back porch
And I slid my class ring to the cross on your gold chain
And you backed my back against those cedar clapboards
And my lips ain't never been kissed that way
And that night's still Clear As Day
There ain't one second times erased
Every detail is still in place
You hold on to what you love
Some things never fade
I walked you to your brother's silverado
When he climbed behind the wheel and said okay
Last thing you said is I'll call you tomorrow
But that's a call you never got to make
They blamed it on the fog and pouring rain
That night's still Clear As Day
scotty mccreery - dirty dishes
Mama hollers "Supper time,
And don't make me tell you twice
Wash your hands and wipe your face.
The table's no place for your toys,
And try to use your inside voice,
Don't dig in 'til we say Grace."
So we put down our forks and bowed our heads
And then she prayed the strangest prayer ever said:
"I wanna thank You Lord,
For noisy children and slamming doors,
And clothes scattered all over the floor,
My husband workin' all the time,
Draggin' in dead tired at night,
My never ending messy kitchen
And dirty dishes."
We all got real still and quiet,
And daddy asked "Honey, you alright?"
She said, "Dear, ain't nothing wrong,
Noisy kids are happy kids,
And slamming doors just means we live,
In a warm and loving home,
Your long hours and those dishes in the sink,
Means a job and enough to eat.
So I'm gonna thank You Lord,
For noisy children and slamming doors,
And clothes scattered all over the floor,
My husband workin' all the time,
Draggin' in dead tired at night,
My never ending messy kitchen
For my little busy bees
Beggin' mama, mama can you please?
Always wantin' me to call their name
Loads of laundry pilin' up
Crayons crushed into the rug
In those little sticky kisses
And dirty dishes,
And dirty dishes..."
scotty mccreery - i love you this big
I know I'm still young
But, I know how I feel
I might not have too much experience
But, I know when love is real...
By the way my heart starts pounding
When I look into your eyes
I might look a little silly
Standing with my arms stretched open wide...
I love you this big
Eyes have never seen... this big
No-one's ever dreamed... this big
And I'll spend the rest of my life
Explaining what words
Cannot describe but, I'll try
I love you this big...
I'll love you to the moon and back
I'll love you all the time
Deeper than the ocean
And higher than the pines...
Cause girl, you do something to me
Deep down in my heart
I know I look a little crazy
Standing with my arms stretched all apart...
I love you this big
Eyes have never seen... this big
No-one's ever dreamed... this big
And I'll spend the rest of my life
Explaining what words
Cannot describe but, I'll try
I love you this big...
So much bigger than I ever
Dreamed my heart ever would
I love you this big
And I'd write your name in
Stars across the sky
If I could, I would...
I love you this big
Oh, eyes have never seen... this big
No-one's ever dreamed... this big
And I'll spend the rest of my life
Explaining what words
Cannot describe but, I'll try
I love you this big...
I love you this big
Oh, eyes have never seen... this big
No-one's ever dreamed... this big
And I'll spend the rest of my life
Explaining what words
Cannot describe but, I'll try
I love you this big...
scotty mccreery - in a little cafe in georgia
In a little cafe in Georgia,
south of Atlanta way,
she walked into my life,
that dark and stormy day.
Past my table she wandered,
from out of that driving rain,
through the wrinkles and weathered tear marks,
I saw a face filled with pain.
I just sat there with a saddened heart,
overcome with a case of the blues,
for she wore an old raggedy raincoat,
and a pair of wornout shoes.
As I walked up to her gently,
and just stood there at her side,
I gazed at that beautiful face,
through the tears that she had cried.
I invited her to my table,
and took her coat off to dry,
I could tell her heart was filled with sorrow,
though I didn't want to pry.
As I softly touched her on the shoulder,
I hoped she'd not take my gesture wrong,
I thought of those worn out clothes again,
and how she could have gotten along.
Then she placed her hand in mine,
and held it ever so tight,
I knew somehow things would be ok,
that everything would be alright.
I asked her if she was hungry,
if she wanted something to eat,
but she just sat there quietly,
shivering in her seat.
I placed my arm around her,
to try and make her warm,
I was thankful she had wandered in,
away from that dreadful storm.
Then as tears streamed down her face,
her brown eyes looked up at me,
and at that moment I realized,
our encounter was meant to be.
She told me the love of her life had died,
two years ago this day,
I held her closer to me,
searching for the right words to say.
I told her a little story,
'bout two people in love,
the Lord took one of them,
now she speaks to this heart from above.
As tears flowed down my cheek,
she placed her face against mine,
then asked if I was ok,
I told her now I'd be fine.
Now when I think of that day so long ago,
I get down on my knees and pray,
I thank the Lord for bringing two hearts together,
in that little ol' cafe.
scotty mccreery - out of summertime
It's the Duquoin, Illinois county fair
I could still see her standing there like a dream
Flatbed stage on a little dirt track
She was second row, her hair pulled back
We were young and free
Oh, she could've been mine
But we ran out of summertime
Spent a few weeks out on a lake shore beach
Carved our names high as we could reach on an old wooden pier
We made plans we planned to keep
300 miles from her to me and her senior year
Oh, she could've been mine
But we ran out of summertime
And of all the things I let get away
She's the one that keeps me awake at night
And I've never seen days go by so fast
A little more sand falling through the glass
She was hot as July and sweet as sunshine
Oh, she could've been mine
But we ran out of summertime
If the days had only stayed that long
And those autumn leaves didn't have to fall
Oh, we'd have fell in love
'Cause what we felt on that Ferris wheel
Was just too right and just too real
But just not long enough
Oh, she could've been mine
But we ran out of summertime
And of all the things I let get away
She's the one that keeps me awake at night
And I've never seen days go by so fast
A little more sand falling through the glass
She was hot as July, sweet as sunshine
Oh, she could've been mine
But we ran out of summertime
And of all the things I let get away
She's the one that keeps me awake at night
And I've never seen days go by so fast
A little more sand falling through the glass
Sweet as sunshine
And of all the things I let get away
She's the one that keeps me awake at night
And I've never seen days go by so fast
A little more sand falling through the glass
She was hot as July, sweet as sunshine
Oh, she could've been mine
scotty mccreery - please remember me
When all our tears have reached the sea
Part of you will live in me
Way down deep inside my heart
The days keep coming without fail
A new wind is gonna find your sail
That's where your journey starts
You'll find better love
Strong as it ever was
Deep as the river runs
Warm as the morning sun
Please remember me
Just like the waves down by the shore
We're gonna keep on coming back for more
'Cause we don't ever wanna stop
Out in this brave new world you seek
Oh the valleys and the peaks
And I can see you on the top
You'll find better love
Strong as it ever was
Deep as the river runs
Warm as the morning sun
Please remember me
Remember me when you're out walkin'
When the snow falls high outside your door
Late at night when you're not sleepin'
And moonlight falls across your floor
When I can't hurt you anymore
You'll find better love
Strong as it ever was
Deep as the river runs
Warm as the morning sun
Please remember me
Please remember me
scotty mccreery - the old king james
Preacher gave it to him when he was eight,
That Sunday morning he got saved in that little church
Grandaddy totted it to Bible school
I bet back then it looked brand new, not a faded word
Now the cover's torn and the leather's worn... on that Old King James
He took it with him overseas, England, France and Germany
Right there in the middle of hell
Said he read it every night, he swore that it'd saved his life
His only hope when there was no hope left
Was in that Old King James
Passed it down to Momma on the day he died
Sat there for the longest time just gathering the dust
But when life would take a sharp turn every now and then
And she would just start missing him, I'd see her pick it up
Now the cover's torn and the leather's worn.... on that Old King James
You'll find on every other page, yellow lines or tear drop stains
Every chapter of that good book
Been through cancer, war and crazy kids, all the stupids things I did
I may never know the toll I took... on her and that Old King James
Yeah I'm the one who's got it now,
She said read it when you're feeling down and I said Yes Ma'am
Now the cover's torn and the leather's worn... on that Old King James.
scotty mccreery - the trouble with girls
The trouble with girls is theyâ??re a mystery
Something about â??em puzzles me
Spent my whole life trying to figure out
Just what them girls are all about
The trouble with girls is theyâ??re so dang pretty
Everything about â??em does something to be
Guess thatâ??s the way itâ??s supposed to be
They smile their smile, they bat those eyes
They steal you with hello, they kill you with goodbye
They hook you with one touch, and you canâ??t break free
Yeah, the trouble with girls is
Nobody loves trouble as much as me
Theyâ??re sugar and spice and angel wings
Hell on wheels in tight blue jeans
That summer night by the lake
An old memory you canâ??t shake
Theyâ??re hard to find, yet thereâ??s so many of 'em
The way that you hate that you already love â??em
I guess thatâ??s the way itâ??s supposed to be
They smile their smile, they bat those eyes
They steal you with hello, they kill you with goodbye
They hook you with one touch, and you canâ??t break free
Yeah, the trouble with girls is
Nobody loves trouble as much as me
Bridge:
The way they hold you out on the dance floor
The way they ride in the middle of your truck
The way they kiss you at the front door
Make you wish you couldâ??ve gone up
Just as you walk away, you hear that sweet voice sayâ?¦
Stayâ?¦..
They smile their smile, they bat those eyes
They steal you with hello, they kill you with goodbye
They hook you with one touch, and you canâ??t break free
Yeah, the trouble with girls is
Nobody loves trouble as much as me
scotty mccreery - walk in the country
Runnin' from the rat race
Just as fast as I can
Take off my tie so I can breathe
Me, I'm going where the fresh air's blowin'
Take a little walk in the country with me
Walk in the country with me
Watch the sun sinkin' down on the trees
It's gonna do us some good
To get down in the woods
Take a little walk in the country with me
I'm so sick of all them Tv shows
I need some dirt road under my feet
C'mon let's point our toes where the red fern grows
Take a little walk in the country with me
Come on now
Walk in the country with me
Watch the sun sinkin' down on the trees
It's gonna do us some good
To get down in the woods
Take a little walk in the country with me
Walkin' in the country
Oh bless my soul
Just gimme that country road
Walk in the country with me
Watch the sun sinkin' down on the trees
It's gonna do us some good
To get down in the woods
Take a little walk in the country with me
Take a little walk in the country with me
Take a little walk in the country with me
scotty mccreery - water tower town
In a water tower town everybody waves,
Church doors are the only thing that's open on Sundays
Word travels fast, wheels turn slow
Yeah workin' hard and livin' right is the only life we know
Friday night football is king
Sweet tea goes good with anything
The fireflies come out when the sun goes down.
Nobody eats 'til you say amen
And everybody knows your mom and them
You can see who loves who for miles around
In a water tower town.
Where your friend's a friend and your word's your word
And our pickup trucks, they ain't for looks, they're made for work
Corn grows high, crime stays low
There's little towns everywhere where everybody knows
Friday night football is king
Sweet tea goes good with anything
And the girls come out when the sun goes down.
Nobody eats 'til you say amen
And everybody knows your mom and them
You can see who loves who for miles around
In a water tower town.
Yeah, Friday night football is king
Sweet tea goes good with anything
Peace and quiet make such a beautiful sound.
Nobody eats 'til you say amen
And everybody knows your mom and them
You can see who loves who for miles around
In a water tower town.
Yeah, in a water tower town.
scotty mccreery - write my number on your hand
She climbed up an oak tree and done a back-flip
The river drenched bikini sittin' pretty on her hips
So we shared a Coca Cola sittin' on a log
And I was wantin' to kiss her like an old bullfrog
Did you say you're only here for a couple of days
Well alright, we ain't got much time to waste
We talked 'til the moon chased the sun from the sky
Said this is hello, it sure ain't goodbye
Write my number on your hand where it's easy to see
Write my number on your hand and give yours to me
It will look good in blue on your sun kissed tan
Baby write my number on your hand.
We jumped back in the water in the moonlight glow
I said, come tomorrow, where you wanna go
Baby some place cool, 'cause it will be hot
Do it one more time, I think it might've rubbed off
Write my number on your hand where it's easy to see
Write my number on your hand and give yours to me
Still looks good in blue on your sun kissed tan
Baby write my number on your hand.
If you're ever back in town, just give me a ring
She said, well that's so sweet, but if you wanna see me
Write my number on your hand where it's easy to see
Write my number on your hand and read it back to me
Yeah blue would look good with your farmer's tan,
Baby write my number on your hand.
It'd look pretty damn good with your farmer's tan,
Baby write my number on your hand.
