Paradise Lost

I ascend as apostles who died
With the hurt as a spear in my side
But this world offers nothing for free
As I look in the treacherous eyes
Death is certain as seasons divide

And this world offers nothing for me
For every soul through God or prayer
Divine speech the solace of despair
As life greets this velvet symphony
Hard to fake belief, senseless harmony

Hard to fail at grief, deaths upon us
friends will always bleed
Some shall fall as others create
Some shall crawl with resenting hate
Destroyed, unknown in death
Reaching the spire when others tried and failed

No one can live without prevail
This voids uncertain depths
Reaching up higher without a shred of doubt
We must outlive, the many lost in the shroud

Despairing and worn
Ruthless and scorned
Pale and forlorn, as we stumble and fall
Replenish the force within us
Find a way, mark a way, burn away
